My newest best friends, Jule & Tom, were married a few weeks ago over in Northfield, VT at Norwich University with reception at The Capital Plaza in Montpelier, VT – needless to say we all had a blast and when the sun finally decided to come out just after the ceremony we took full advantage of…

Here are just a selection of my favorites, all the rest can be viewed on their gallery at Pictage.com if you know the passcode.

“Spencer, I can’t even say thank you enough for all of the work you put into our wedding photos. (When I first saw them I)  was absolutely taken aback. They are gorgeous, and we want you to know how grateful we both are. I wish I could think of something better to say because honestly saying “thank you” doesn’t even begin to describe how we feel about it. You are awesome.” ~Julie & Tom

Met up with this very sweet, loving couple during our first truly cold day of this Winter season for their Environmental Engagement Photo Shoot just this past weekend – and they were real troopers! We took full advantage of the scenery around the Round Barn Farm and a few other spots in the Mad River Valley to capture/create some romantic moments. They are to be wed here next August; aren’t they cute…

Colorful & Rustic Vermont Wedding by Spencer Leonard Photography

Posted on November 28, 2011 by Erin * Sparkle & Hay

I hope that all of my U.S. readers had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend & enjoyed some good food, family, friends, and maybe even a little shopping!  In case you’re still in a bit of a Turkey induced haze, I’ve got just the thing to add a little pep back to your step – this colorful yet rustic Vermont wedding for your Monday!  Kris & Carley were married this past summer at the Round Barn Farm in Waitsfield, VT.  Incorporating a bright & fresh color palette with some personalized touches (I heart VT cookies anyone?) their big day was a perfect mix of some rustic chic touches with details that were uniquely their own.

My last wedding of the 2011 Season was over in Upstate NY at a cool little church in Keene followed by a reception at the Whiteface Lodge in Lake Placid. As a studio photographer from NYC, the groom opted for all the RAW images, giving me way to much time to edit for my own – so finally, here’s a selection of my favorite:

Julie & Tom’s Foliage Season E-Session – Norwich University, Northfield VT

I’m very excited to feature here some pic’s from my new “Old School” style camera. I’ve finally found a realistically priced digital rangefinder: Fuji X100. Leica M Series has been around for a while, but the price tag (and lack of AF to a much lesser degree) has restricted my going in this direction for way to long. I’m now in love with this little guy and am really exited to actually use this camera style to better along my portraying skills of Real Life, Fun & Emotional wedding stories. The more I play with this guy, the more I’m beginning to think I may dump the digital SLR all together; we’ll see…

Julie & Tom are getting hitched at Norwich University this January, hopefully during a blizzard, according to Marine, Gunny Tom (exciting – for all the inherent, creative possibilities), but Southern Belle, Julie’s thinking of a warmish sunny day (unusually, nice too). So this past week, during the near-peak of foliage in this realm, we went for a little walk with their dog Bandit, down a dirt road littered with fallen leaves and then headed over to campus for some more spontaneous, romantic moments. It’s really amazing how these two opened up to the camera throughout this 2-hour window. See if see what I mean; I think these shots make a big difference in my getting to know the personalities and better still so they get used to my camera style.

I love my job so much, especially when working with two love birds who are going to make my job that much more fun…

Sarah & Greg were blessed with the weather they had wished for and some early foliage for their Sugarbush wedding. Here are a few of my favorites.

Again, thanks to Hurricane Irene, the 2nd of my Hawk Inn wedding relocation’s reminded me why I shouldn’t only photograph weddings in just Vermont. Of course it also helped immeasurably that Tenney & Dave and all their friends and family, especially Tenney’s mom was SO unbelievably COOL to work with given all the last minute hard work they were required to do to pull this off!!! Here are just a few of my favorite moments from this love story:

Shannon & Mike’s Vermont Wedding Story was moved to Hope, NJ thanks to Irene… September 3, 2011

This very cool couple from Morristown, NJ had planned a Destination Wedding at one of my most favorite VT venues, the Hawk Inn & Resort in Plymouth, but because of Irene’s path, right up Route 100, there became no way to get there. So with that and a number of other more tragic Hawk related reasons, the resort had to cancel all of it’s events for the near future and in doing so relocated 2 of my weddings this month. By some grace of a higher power, within 3 days, somehow Shannon & Mike were still able to keep the date, they just had to move the location down a bit closer to home. So, understanding that life get’s in the way, I agreed to simply follow them down to NJ for the weekend – and I have no regrets. In fact, a bit of a tangent here, but it reminded me of how much fun it was back when I was a wedding photojournalist out of Boston and was willing to travel anywhere to document love stories, not just in Vermont like I’ve tried for the last 6 years – maybe it even made me more willing to consider that option again more liberally; we’ll see.

Anyway, as I found out, the Inn at Millrace Pond in Hope, NJ, in North-West New Jersey, just off the Delaware Water Gap, was like no other part of New Jersey I’ve ever seen & I’d thought I’d seen it all: it is a truly lovely destination wedding spot where I was able to create some of my best work this year!

I long for the opportunity of returning in the near future.

For today’s real wedding feature we have Vy and Spenser’s waterfront event in Burlington, Vermont. The ceremony was on the Spirit of the Ethan Allen on Lake Champlain and the reception was at the Echo Lake Aquarium and Science Center. Big bright sunflowers along with blue and yellow details filled the event. Below are the photos from the day by Spencer Leonard Photography!
